Sorensis is developing a long-term, non-surgical reproductive control system for cattle using a biodegradable ear implant designed for practical on-farm use.

Founded by Dr Kim Agnew, the company is focused on creating greater operational flexibility and productivity combined with a humane alternative to traditional sterilisation methods, which are often invasive, labour-intensive and irreversible.

The implant is designed to provide approximately 12 months of reversible contraception through a controlled-release polymer system placed beneath the skin of the ear. The technology aims to give producers greater flexibility in herd reproductive management while improving productivity and providing an option for a non-surgical sterilisation intervention.

Initially focused on extensive beef operations across Australia, North America and Latin America, Sorensis is developing reproductive control technologies designed to support more efficient, welfare-conscious and sustainable livestock systems.
